Hey, Look Out! I Want To Make Love To You

I want to be clear up front that this song is not sung by a child, but by a little person. A cowboy little person, in fact, in the nutso 1938 film "The Terror of Tiny Town," which was billed as "the world's only western with an all-midget cast," a claim that, if not impressive, is at least probably true. Long before David Lynch's father's eye held the glint that would one day grow up and pervert the notion of cowboy little people from ever again being taken at face value (and crotch height), a bleary-eyed America clambered up from the dusty abyss of the Depression and into theaters to witness the spectacle of little people reclaiming their dignity, if only for a few minutes. Then the little people all got on Shetland ponies and rode around and looked adorable, and it's been all elves and Teletubbies since then. Still, it's a mighty sweet little song.
