The Gore Whore: New year, new horror
The Gore Whore takes a look at horror films slated to be released in 2010
Friday, January 1, 2010
The other day, I got to thinking, "hmm. I wonder what horror gems will wash up on the shore of death and despair in 2010?"
OK — I didn't really think that, but I did begin to think about the subject.
So, to satiate my thirst for new blood, I decided to run a quick Google and IMDB search. Here's what I found:
Horror sequels:
I really enjoyed 30 Days of Night. Lots of blood and bright, white snow is always a lovely combination.
The Gore Whore's watch-o-meter: Yes!
Hostel: Part III
Although I have a soft-spot in my heart for exploitation films, I've never got into the Hostel movies. What some people find horrifying these days is just, well, lame.

Saw VII
My feelings about Saw and Hostel films go hand in hand. Except, the plug should be pulled on the Saw series for sure. Wait. That already happened. The killer was killed, but the madness continues. The cheese and blood will flow for years.

The first was fun, the rest were ick. Maybe the concept will become magically fresh after all these years?

The Strangers 2
Hate, hate, hated The Strangers. Funny Games had a similar concept, but was a million times better.

Mmmm. Sam Raimi. I will watch you and your films no matter what.
The Gore Whore's watch-o-meter: Yes!
Horror remakes / retellings:
I must admit, I've always enjoyed this series. But, an Elm Street sans Englund? Can that be done? Eh. We'll see.
The Gore Whore's watch-o-meter: Will reluctantly pay money to see
Images of this damn doll terrorized my brain all throughout my childhood. I'll endure the probable CGI crap to face my fear.

Never really liked Jason and I sure as hell didn't enjoy him in the last retelling of Friday the 13th.

Goosebumps
Another film based on a beloved childhood book series? Shock! I, however, am a fan of the Goosebump books. Good job, Money getting, movie maker who's-its. You'll get my cash, but just this one time.

Horror originals (at least they appear to be):
An IMDB search for movies with the word "Dead" in the title yielded these results for films coming out in 2010. The following films are the few that stood out amidst the upcoming zombie, mutant, and vampire flicks.
There's not a lot of information about these films, but the titles alone lead me to think they could be fun, and therefore get a "probably" on the watch-o-meter.
