As winter drags on, everyone seems to be suffering from colds. If you have the common cold, it's okay to work out. It might even make you feel better. Studies have shown that exercising with the common cold (runny or stuffy nose, sore throat) does not have any negative impact on the body. In fact, some participants reported feeling better after exercising with a cold. So just keep these guidelines in mind and feel better soon! 

• If your illness is "above the neck" (think head cold, runny nose, sore throat), keep up with your exercise routine.

• If you are vomiting, have diarrhea or a chest cold, take it easy until your symptoms lessen. Also, if you have a fever or severe body aches, it's a good idea to take the day off from your fitness routine.

I love steak, but know that beef can be high in animal fat which can be bad for your heart. What cuts of beef should I eat if I want the leanest cut?

Great question. Not all steaks are created equal. If you are buying or ordering steak for dinner, make sure to ask for an extra lean cut of beef such as top sirloin. A 3.5-ounce serving (or about the size of a deck of cards or two iPhones stacked on top of each other) only contains about five grams of fat (two are saturated) and 95 milligrams of cholesterol. Another good option is to go for the tenderloin steak, commonly known as filet. This cut has 10 grams of fat (4.5 are saturated) and 95 milligrams of cholesterol.  

I only have 20 minutes for cardio. How can I burn the most calories?

Interval training — hands down. Follow this workout for a great calorie burn in a short amount of time: Warm up for a few minutes and then go at a moderate pace/resistance for one minute and then one minute at your maximum pace or resistance until your reach 20 minutes. Viola — a fantastic calorie burn in no time flat!
