Go green for St. Patrick's Day
Your local sources for all things green
Wednesday, March 10, 2010
St. Patrick's Day is hardly a celebration unless you're decked out in green from head-to-toe. And if you're feeling truly Irish, add a splash of orange and white for good measure. But where to stock up on all things green? Try two of Kansas City's beloved Irish stores: Sheehan's Irish Imports and Browne's Irish Market, the oldest Irish-owned business in North America. Both family-owned stores offer an extensive selection of green apparel and accessories, not to mention car adornments and party decorations.
What began as a 350-square-foot shop within the Westport Mercantile Company has since evolved into the existing Sheehan's Irish Imports, a family-owned business that opened more than two decades ago and has since expanded twice. Authentic Irish merchandise spills into seven rooms that offer everything from Celtic music and genealogy books to collectibles, bar ware, Irish food and drink and, of course, a sizable display of St. Patrick's Day merchandise:
